What can compassion do?

I have never heard this quote before, but I really do like it. I really think that the best way to live your life is learning from your mistakes, as well as others mistakes and using compassion when learning those lessons. As I have said before I think that if you show compassion then you are able to help improve someone’s day. You do not have to go out of your way for them and you still may make a very big difference in their day.
Yesterday my boyfriend and I had a disagreement because he kept asking me “What if you were not able to help improve another person’s life?” I just kept telling him over and over again that I cannot even answer that question because there is no way that is impossible for you! One of his examples of what if you can’t help someone was, “What if you had no arms or legs and could only lay in a hospital bed?” my response was very obvious, “Then you use your words to show others your amazing ability to be so proactive and a great attitude even if you don’t have everything you have ever wanted! Or even what most people take for granted. You empower others with your words.”
To me there is no reason for one human to never help another. You should always do what you can to help another. Not everyone is able to use their words but you can volunteer, you can lend an ear to your friends and family when they are going through a hard time. I know everyone cannot be saints but I think that compassion for others is a necessity in this world. We all have had those moments when something was hurting us so much and we remember who was there to help us get through it. Others remember when you do it too even if they may not show you the most appreciation in that moment.
