Can the touch of the hand affect the heart?
Touch of the hand. What does it mean to you?
So we all have saw that moment on TV or in movies when two people are kind of feeling each other then they have that moment where their hands touch, time freezes and they star longingly into the others eyes. In real life nothing ever last’s that long, but that still is a moment that seems to change relationships between people. When you are really into a girl and she purposely touches your hand don’t you look at her with the most approving smile full of your gittiness? When you are handing a guy you like something and he makes a point for his hand to touch yours doesn’t your heart skip a beat, then you look at him for that is this real reassurance?
I was watching TV the other day and realized how many times this is how simple of an action it takes to take two people to the next level. That simple quite moment where nothing is actually said, but the eye contact speaks volumes! It is like for those two people time really does stop for a few moments.
Do you think that the touch of the hand slowly becomes more expected and less exciting and heart warming after time? In the beginning every time they text you or email something sweet your heart skips a beat and it is so exciting, just like every time you have your first touch, hug, kiss and every step closer to full intimacy between the two of you. But like everything else those things become typical and expected and do not make your heart skip a beat like it once did. When my boyfriend now grabs my hand to hold it, I don’t loose my breath; my heart doesn’t skip a beat. Instead I find it more of a comfort that everything is normal and we are just okay.
Does the touch of your spouse’s hand mean as much to you today as it did a few years ago? Does it make you feel completely different inside, but yet still means so much to you? Do you have so many things in your life that you don’t even remember what their touch means to you? Do you have a way to keep the passion there so that you know you will never take their touch for granted? Do you know how much someone’s touch heals your heart? Do you know if your touch heals someone else’s? What does the touch of another’s hand mean to you?
I know that when I am really down, angry, or have a lot of anxiety there are a few people that I can always go to and just feeling their hand on my arm as they say, “you will be okay!” Or feeling them hug me as I cry can make me heart instantly feel more relaxed and safe.
